Cath Kidston up for sale

Quintessentially British brand, Cath Kidston, is up for sale, two years after going into administration.

The fashion and homewares retailer, which used to have stores in Cheltenham and Gloucester, was taken through a pre-pack insolvency process in 2020. Now Baring Private Equity Asia has hired PwC to find a new owner, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Cath Kidston's stores all closed in 2020, with the exception of a flagship store in London's Piccadilly and a handful of shops in Saudi Arabia.

Since then, it has been a wholesale-led brand, boosted by some online sales.

PwC has been in talks with prospective buyers for several weeks, although it is not known who they are and what their plans are for the future of the brand.
