Cannabis factory discovered by police in Gloucester

More than 200 plants were found growing in the building

Police have shut down a cannabis factory in Gloucester after it was reported by local residents.

Officers discovered more than 200 plants being grown at the premises in Alfred Street Tuesday night (July 13).

Residents living close to the address had reported seeing suspicious activity taking place at the property.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team worked with the residents and the landlord of the building to collect further evidence.

The grow, estimated to be worth thousands of pounds, has now been dismantled after being made safe by electricians.

No arrests have been made and police inquiries are continuing.

Sergeant Grant White, of the Neighbourhood Police Team said: "Thanks to the combined efforts of the local community and all the officers involved, this has taken a quantity of Class B drugs off the streets where they would have had a devastating impact on people's lives.

"Often these types of drugs can be directly linked to other types of crimes and we will continue to target these operations in a bid to stop the individuals behind them."

Anyone with additional information about this latest drugs incident can contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through their website (https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/) quoting incident 346 of 13 July. You can also contact police on 101.

If you believe drug activity is taking place you can report this to the force or through Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
