A 30-year-old Gloucester woman has admitted fraudulently obtaining £109,528 while working as a book keeper for three businesses - including Netball South West, which is responsible for the management and development of the sport in the region.
At Cheltenham Magistrates Court yesterday (October 14) Sophie Workman, 30 of Robin Close Abbeydale pleaded guilty to five charges of an abuse of position while employed as a financial bookkeeper for PMP Genesis Ltd and Gilly Slater Consultancy as well as Netball South West.
Prosecutor Nicola Ritchie said the total amount fraudulently obtained by Workman was £109,528.83, of which almost half, £48,242.93, was taken Netball South West.
She stole £34,837.30 from Gilly Slater Consultancy and £26,448 from PMP Genesis Ltd, a company which has since been dissolved.
District Judge Nicholas Wattam said that because of the large amounts of money involved he had no option but to commit the case to Gloucester Crown Court for sentence on November 11th 2021.
Workman was released on unconditional bail pending sentence.
