Gloucester's first rugby 7s festival comes to Kingsholm

Kingsholm is home to Gloucester's first rugby 7s summer festival next weekend, on Saturday 17 June, known as the Ben Morgan Testimonial 7s.

The following local Gloucestershire community clubs will battle it out for the MKM Cup and PSB Scaffolding Shield: Chosen Hill - Cinderford - Cirencester - Old Cents - Dursley - Longlevens - Stroud - Matson - Widden Old Boys - Acorn 7s - Old Richians - Smiths Rugby.

Ben Morgan said: "I have selected 12 teams from within the Gloucestershire RFU to play at Kingsholm. We are blessed with over 70 GRFU-affiliated clubs so to choose 12 was hard to fit into a one-day timetable. It's an honour for community players, their clubs, and supporters to play here. Please come along and give the boys a good show of support and help raise funds for Ed Slater, MND and Sam Polledri's family."

"It is a real honour to be awarded a testimonial year when I called time on playing professional rugby for the Cherry & Whites, and we hope the 7s Festival will continue each year as the Gloucester 7s."

"I am also very grateful to many local businesses whose support has been incredible and helped us stage this first event. So, thanks to MKM Building Solutions, PSB Scaffolding, BIGDUG, Chris McNeil Building Contractors, Glevum Security, MS Commercials, Zesta, JM Weston, Hopsons Solicitors and JoeDan and many volunteers and the Committee."

Proceeds from tickets will go to Ben's two charities: @4ED and the Sam Polledri Foundation. The 4Ed Foundation is very close to Ben's heart following former teammate Ed Slater's MND diagnosis, and the Sam Polledri Foundation was established when player Jake Polledri's brother, Sam, suddenly passed away from a cardiac arrest in 2022.

The Festival offers a full family day out with food & drink, entertainment, awards, and limited edition 7s t-shirts! Tickets can be bought here or entry on the day: adults are £15 and kids £5.

Ben is an international Number 8 and a legend amongst the faithful at Gloucester Rugby. He has played more than 200 competitive games for the club and won 31 caps with England. Gloucestershire born and bred he played his junior rugby at Dursley RFC and joined Gloucester in 2012.
