Are you ready for the bitter cold?
23rd February 2018
Freezing temperatures and the possibility of snow are on the way, reminding us all that we need to take extra care at home, at work and out of doors.
With this in mind, Cotswold District Council is reminding residents about the Get ready for Winter page on its website, which provides help and advice about preparing for very cold weather - and most of it is relevant even if you don't live in the Cotswold district.
Cllr Stephen Hirst, cabinet member for health and community safety, said: "The Met Office is predicting a significant cold spell over the next week or so, and we are drawing attention to a package of information we have assembled to help people cope with the conditions. This covers a range of useful information including: school closures; arrangements for disruptions to waste collections; keeping warm and well; reporting potholes; snow clearing; and coping with flooding.
"We would also appreciate it if people could check on older neighbours and relatives during cold spells. Stopping by to say 'hello' can make a lot of difference when it is not so easy to remain fit and well. Good neighbours are worth their weight in gold."
