Appeal to businesses to help train police dogs
By Matt Hall | 30th April 2018
Gloucestershire Police need the help of county firms so they can carry out essential training.
The police are looking for new venues within the county to train police dogs.
It could be any empty or disused buildings for the force's firearms support/general purpose German Shepard police dogs.
Or any office complex, large house, college or stadium for the drugs or explosive search dogs.
A police spokesperson said: "Our drugs and explosive search dogs can happily search safely around people so these premises do not need to be empty, unlike the venues required for our German Shepard police dogs.
"If you have empty buildings awaiting to be let or sold we would be interested in these too, even if they are only available for a few weeks.
"It is important for our police dogs' development to receive training in realistic venues to prepare them for operational duties. If you have any buildings or land which you would be happy for us to use for training purposes please contact PC 1541 Claire Todd via email Claire.Todd@gloucestershire.pnn.police.uk
"We would be very grateful for any assistance you can give us."
