£30,000 Cirencester regeneration scheme starting soon

Regeneration work on Brewery Court in Cirencester will start in the next few weeks, Cotswold District Council has confirmed.
The council will invest £30,000 in the scheme, which is scheduled to begin by April 2022.

Cotswold District Council has been working on plans to restore the Brewery Court, which included a feasibility study to help understand what would be needed to redevelop the area into a usable and inviting community space.
Investigatory work included discussions with local tenants, ensuring there is suitable access for emergency vehicles and deliveries, ensuring adequate drainage and utilities, and restoration of the hare mosaic.
Cllr Joe Harris, leader of Cotswold District Council, has lived in Cirencester all his life and shares residents' concerns about the state of the Brewery Court.
He said: "When I became council leader, it was a priority of mine to give Brewery Court some attention.
"Plans to improve the area will include the introduction of new seating and planters, general surface repairs and the removal of existing walls and seating areas to create a more open and welcoming space. This will complement the great work the businesses such as Amore Mio and new Brewery Arts are doing to tidy up their corners of the court."
The council is also committed to restoring the hare mosaic to its original design and specification, although further investigations will be required before any work can go ahead.
