Ecclesiastical tops Fairer Finance table for 21st time

Gloucester-based Ecclesiastical Insurance remains the UK's most trusted home insurance provider.

Ecclesiastical Insurance has retained its top spot in the Fairer Finance Home Insurance league table for a record 21st time and remains the UK's most trusted home insurance provider.

The specialist insurer topped the list of 48 insurers including Bank of Scotland, TSB, NFU Mutual, Lloyds Bank and Nationwide retaining Gold Ribbon status for another year.

Fairer Finance, an independent consumer group, surveys around 20,000 UK banking and insurance customers throughout the year, asking them to rate how satisfied they are with their bank or insurance company.

Customers are asked to rate the firms on happiness and trust. Fairer Finance then uses records from the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) to assess complaints handling and a combination of mystery shopping and policy document reviews to assess transparency.

Ecclesiastical came first in most trusted, customer happiness and complaints performance - achieving an overall customer experience score of 78% to top the table once again.

Richard Coleman, managing director at Ecclesiastical Insurance, said: "I'm delighted that we're once again top of the table and rated as the most trusted insurer in the Fairer Finance league tables. It's a testament to the efforts of our teams that we've been able to achieve this feat for a record 21st consecutive time.

"We know our customers choose to insure with us because we are committed to delivering the best possible service for them, and coming top of the pile in most trusted, customer happiness and complaints handling reiterates that.

"We're not the same as other insurers. We're owned by a charity and all of our available profits go to good causes. By taking out home insurance with Ecclesiastical, our customers are playing their part in helping us to give even more profits to even more good causes - and we thank them for their ongoing support."

James Daley, managing director at Fairer Finance, said: "Ecclesiastical has topped our home insurance customer experience tables for the 21st time in a row. It's an incredible achievement - and one that no company has managed in any other sector.

"While the Financial Conduct Authority's consumer duty rules are driving improvements amongst other insurers - Ecclesiastical has still got a commanding lead over its nearest competitor. It also wins accolades for having the happiest customers and being the most trusted brand. Congratulations to Ecclesiastical for another really strong year."
