Ted Baker to close stores

Fashion retailer, Ted Baker, is set to close 15 UK stores.

The store at Gloucester Quays is unaffected by the closures, which will begin in the next few days, as reported by the BBC.

Eleven stores will close by April 19, with the loss of 120 jobs. Stores in the first round of closures include Bristol, Oxford and Birmingham Bullring, according to administrators.

A further four stores are set to close 'in the coming weeks', including the store in Bicester and two in London, with the loss of 100 jobs.

A further 25 jobs at head office will go.

The administrators said the stores set to close won't return to profitability, even with significant rent reductions.

When it first went into administration, Ted Baker had 46 stores and 975 staff in the UK.

Discussions with potential UK and European partners to bring the brand back from the brink are ongoing.
