A quarter of credit card users have paid their monthly bill late, according to new research.
And two-thirds of them have been late in the last year, according to data from Compare the Market.
Less than half of credit card users regularly pay their balance in full, with one in five only able to afford the minimum payment on their latest bill, as reported by This is Money.
Credit card annual percentage rates (APRs) have risen from an average of 30.3% a year ago to 34.7%. Rising financial pressures mean the average credit card debt is now £1,160.
With a 34.7% APR, a borrower with £1,160 of credit card debt who only who only makes the minimum monthly repayment would end up paying £943 in interest by the time their balance is paid off.
