EXCLUSIVE: Prime former Chambers pub site goes on the market

A prime site in Gloucester city centre which was formerly The Chambers pub is now on the market.
Owner Gloucester City Council is looking for a business to transform the prominent building which is a key part of the £200million regeneration of the Kings Quarter.
It fronts onto Kings Square, which was given a makeover in 2022 and sits near The Forum development and the former Debenhams, which will soon be a campus for University of Gloucestershire.
The 484 sqm property is available for lease for £60,000 per annum and a "various uses" will be considered.
However, the council has said it is keen for a food and drink operator to take on the site and create a destination with day and evening activities. It suggested a café culture type venue promoting the region's talented food and drink producers.
The marketing material said: "The property is an historic and prominent former public house, offering a unique opportunity to create a daytime and evening food and beverage offer, with seating fronting Kings Square."
Above the site is Kings House where the council has worked with partners to establish a cultural hub for Jolt, an incubator for creative and cultural businesses and entrepreneurs, and The Music Works, with music studios, teaching rooms and performance spaces.
A spokesperson for Gloucester City Council said it could not comment on offers received or the timeline to a decision due to commercial sensitivities.
