All set for 100k Day charity challenge

A 14-strong team are hoping to cover 100km of Gloucestershire countryside in just 24 hours and raise £10,000 for charity.

The Titan Team - 100k Day Challenge gets underway at midday tomorrow (Saturday, June 3rd) from the Titan Performance Gym, Kingsholm, Gloucester, returning to the same venue 24 hours later..

After raising almost £10,000 in previous years for The Pied Piper Appeal, the team has this year decided to embark on its biggest ever mission - to raise £10,000 in just one event for two brilliant causes - Emily's Gift and The Pied Piper Appeal.

The Titan Challenge is a cross country, multi terrain challenge with team members travelling as fast as their bodies will take them as they head as far afield as Nympsfield.

Crossing fields, streams, beacons and more before, they will return to the start point 24 hours, and 100km later.

The route itself includes challenging elevations from the outset with Painswick being encountered within just a couple of hours of the starting line.

The team will have to hold a formidable pace throughout woodland sections to stand a chance of making it back in time, all while carrying everything they need on their backs to sustain them for the entire challenge.

Emily's Gift is an appeal, under the umbrella of The Pied Piper Appeal, that was launched on March 10 this year, founded by Julie Kent MBE. Their mission is to raise £500,000 by 10 March 2024 to fund the employment of a psychologist for 10 years to ensure all children and their families receive psychological support while their child has cancer treatment at the Emily Kent Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and when they are in remission.

The Pied Piper Appeal was founded in 1992 by local hairdresser Peter Hickman and £4 million was pledged to build a new Children's Centre at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The money was quickly raised with the centre opening in 2004.

Since then, The Pied Piper Appeal has continued to fund the Children's Centre along with supporting SEND Schools with equipment and resources, sending children with life-limiting illnesses and their families on memory making Wish holidays and improving children's experience with mental health facilities.

The Titan Challenge team consists of: Serjey Maksimov, James Mathieson, Joel Stevens, Joe Langbridge, Ben Caton, Stuart Fleetwood, Julia Frearson, Jo Barnard, Darren Dawidiuk, Archie Fox, Charlie Huckson, Jason Wood, Marc Weatherall and Oscar Weatherall.
