A special encounter at Berkeley Castle

Experience a fabulous Champagne afternoon tea with Mary Cole, late Countess of Berkeley.

On Thursday 28th September at 2pm, visitors can experience exclusive access to Berkeley Castle, a scrumptious afternoon tea with Champagne set in the magnificent Great Hall, a guided tour with one of the castle's most experienced guides and an encounter with Mary Cole.

Mary Cole played an important part in the history of Berkeley Castle. Born to a butcher and his wife, she rose to the esteemed position of Countess of Berkeley in 1796 - a feat almost unheard of at its time!

The road to riches was not a smooth one, and she was not only shunned by the 'bon ton' of society, but also by King George VIII & Queen Charlotte.

Meet Mary in the castle she loved and learn more about her scandalous story set in the ravishing Regency era.

The cost is £55 per person and if you would like further information, please contact the Berkeley Castle estate office on 01453 512991.
