A cosy Christmas at Newark Park
By David Wood | 20th November 2023
This year, Newark Park, the National Trust property near Wotton-under-Edge, is embracing a cosy Christmas, with classic festive activities for all ages.
The willow deer have been busy putting together a '12 Days of Christmas' trail, but they need help fully bringing the season to life. Families can play games and get active as they make their way through the garden.
For those looking to get crafty, Christmas wreath-making workshops will be running on 7 & 8 December. With a range of embellishments to choose from, participants will learn how to create a personalised decoration in a warm and friendly group setting.
Father Christmas is also making his annual visit to Newark Park as he gets ready for the busiest night of the year. On 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 & 17 December, he will be in the drawing room with a warm welcome and small gift for those who visit.
Visitors who are after some fresh air can explore the Ozleworth valley on one of the many walking routes around the Newark estate. There are walks for a range of abilities, from woodland wanders to breathtaking valley vistas. Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear is essential.
Visitor experience officer Chris Ogle said: "Our winter schedule is full of exciting activities for visitors of all ages. We're looking forward to showing everyone what a Newark Park Christmas is like."
The family trail will be available from 18 November, and due to high demand booking is essential for Father Christmas and the wreath-making workshops.
