Oink, oink! Henson pig trail gets under way

A tourist attraction in Gloucestershire starring 'Henson Pig' is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors after being officially launched today.

The Royal Three Counties' Gloucestershire Old Spots Sculpture Trail, which was launched by Mayor of Gloucester Cllr Steve Morgan and the Reverend Canon Celia Thompson, comprises more than 30 pigs.

Maps of the trail, which will be running until 31 August, are available from Tourist Information Centres, Gloucester Services and hensontrail.com .

Ben Hau, head of marketing at organisers Marketing Gloucester, said: "Over 300,000 people are expected to take part in the trail this summer.

"It's certain to be a real hit with families, especially with all of the wonderful and humorous takes on the designs of the pigs.

"Some of these include Hammy Trotter, Jurassic Pork, Ham Solo, The Grand Old Duke of Pork and, of course, Henson himself.

"As it lasts the entire summer, there is plenty of time for Henson fans to complete the trail and explore our beautiful county."

Three Counties CE Ken Nottage added: "We're delighted to be involved in the Royal Three Counties Show Gloucestershire Old Spots Trail.

"Come and see our twin Henson Pig and a selection of the mini Hensons designed by school children at Royal Three Counties Show from 16-18 June."
