Free event to help future-proof your family, home and investments

Lawyers speaking at a free event on the 25th May in Moreton-in-Marsh, aim to demystify and explain topical issues such as care fee planning, how to help children or grandchildren to buy their first home, the residence nil rate band, and inheritance tax.

Hosted by law firm Lodders Solicitors and led by its top ranking private client team, the seminar will provide guidance in today's uncertain times.

Head of the private client team Martin Green (pictured) said: "We've designed the seminar programme to answer the questions that our clients ask us.

"The General Election and Brexit are contributors to the shifting landscape. There are also recent Government U-turns, typified by the shelving of plans to increase probate fees.

"The seminar will address these and other topical issues. We aim to provide invaluable guidance on how to plan for the futures of loved ones, your home and investments."

Topics on the agenda include the Residence Nil Rate Band tax and its impact on homeowners. Care funding and dealing with mental incapacity will also feature.

"With sustained growth in our elderly population alongside the need for their professional care, our Care and Capacity experts will explain how to plan for the future, including lasting Powers of Attorney," said Martin.

"Sofia Tayton and Jessica Beddows will together describe care funding and dealing with the financial affairs of loved ones in the event of a dementia diagnosis. They will use real-life examples to highlight some of the common pitfalls and misunderstandings in this area.

"A general round-up of the current situation on probate fees, Wills and Trusts, and topical tax points, will ensure everyone attending the seminar leaves armed with up-to-the-minute answers to key questions. They can then take positive steps to protect their own interests and wealth, and those of their family too."

Lodders Private Client Seminar is at the Manor House Hotel, Moreton-in-Marsh from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, 25th May, and includes a buffet lunch.
