Plans for 15-home development in Cotswolds

Plans to build 15 homes in Lechlade have been submitted to Cotswold District Council.
The scheme from Persimmon Homes is for 15 dwellings with associated works at Butlers Court on an area of pastureland of approximately 1.3 hectares on the western edge of Lechlade.
The developers say the site is allocated for residential development under the adopted Cotswold District Local Plan.
The site is also located outside of but immediately adjacent to the Lechlade Conservation Area and several listed buildings are located close to the site.
In 2015, an application for planning permission was submitted for the erection of 34 dwellings but was withdrawn.
The application proposes a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, 40% of which will be affordable.
One local resident has noted that this is the fourth application to build on this site and all have been turned down. They said the healthcare centre, school and sewerage plant were all at full capacity and won't be able to handle any extra intake.
Another objector commented: "We haven't got the infrastructure to cope with more housing. The doctors are at bursting point and the school is full. People will have to travel far distances for work and how does that add up with this country's eco policy?"
The application will be considered by Cotswold District Council in due course.
