Cotswolds-based income protection specialist Cirencester Friendly has consolidated its position and profile in the insurance industry by becoming a member of the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
The ABI welcomed the move from the South Cerney-based Society which is owned and run in the interests of its members.
Andy Morris, Cirencester Friendly CEO, said: "Attaining ABI membership represents a real step forward for Cirencester Friendly as an organisation and a presence in the market. We look forward to working with the ABI to increase awareness of mutual insurers and talk about the things that matter to us - providing essential cover when people need help the most and doing so in a fair and compassionate way."
The ABI move also underlines the Society's position as a leading provider of income protection which offers people much needed financial support during these turbulent times, he added.
With every decision by the Society being taken for the benefit of its 44,000-plus members, the ABI said that becoming part of the ABI demonstrates the commitment the organisation has to providing members with the best possible products and services - as well as underlining "the growing voice and position Cirencester Friendly has in the market, as it looks to raise awareness of both the value of income protection and mutual organisations".
The ABI says it now has around 300 insurance and long-term savings companies under its umbrella who are "working together, driving change to protect and build a thriving society".
Yvonne Braun, ABI Director of Health and Protection Policy, added: "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Cirencester Friendly into ABI membership. Their focus on supporting their members when they need it most is a value we share. We're really looking forward to working with them to progress the industry's protection goals together."
