VIDEO: Attempted burglary in Dursley

The activation of a smoke device resulted in the offenders fleeing.

Officers are appealing for information about an attempted burglary at a shop in Dursley earlier this month.

Three individuals wearing balaclavas, gloves and hooded tops smashed their way into the building using a sledgehammer, which caused considerable damage.

They were disturbed by the activation of a smoke device installed by the property owner, which resulted in them leaving empty-handed.

Footage has been released of what took place and police are asking for anyone who has any information which could assist them to come forward.

The group were carrying distinctive backpacks and officers are appealing for anyone in the vicinity of Parsonage Street between 1.30am and 2.30am on Monday, March 4, who may have seen anything to come forward.

Anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV covering that time is also asked to get in touch online by completing the online form and quoting incident 12 of March 4.

Did you know you can report information anonymously through the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers? Reporting is completely anonymous and you may be eligible for a reward of up to £1,000. You can call 0800 555 111 or report information online.
