Appeal after two robberies in Cheltenham last week

Police are appealing for witnesses to two robberies which happened in Cheltenham during the early hours of Friday morning (March 15).

In one incident a group of three men, one who had a knife, approached the victim and asked him for his phone.

This is believed to have happened near to Home & Botanic Nightclub on St George's Road at some point in the early hours of the morning.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, handed his phone over and the group left.

In another incident a group of three or four men robbed a victim of his Rolex watch and iPhone while he was walking along the Promenade.

This happened between 5am and 6am between Under the Prom and Hatchards Bookstore.

It has been reported that the group assaulted the 37-year-old man by hitting him in the head and then robbed his phone and watch. He sustained a black eye and bruising on his face.

Banking applications were later accessed on the victim's phone and thousands of pounds have been taken and transferred.

Other incidents which happened around the same time have been reported to police which may be linked, including the theft of a man's phone with thousands of pounds lost in bank transfers.

Police are keen to hear from anyone else who may have had their phone stolen in similar circumstances in Cheltenham that day and who have not yet reported this to police.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed anything or has any information which could assist the ongoing investigation.

If you are a victim of a theft or robbery, or have any further information, you can provide this to police by completing the online form and quoting incident 97 of March 15.
