Wales & West Utilities launches recruitment drive across South West

Gas emergency and pipeline service Wales & West Utilities has launched a recruitment drive to fill 40 operational jobs across the South West of England.

The business is looking to recruit people to support essential work across Gloucestershire, Bristol, Swindon, Taunton, North Devon and Exeter.

Roles available include gas engineering operatives, HGV grab drivers and support drivers.

All of the jobs will play a pivotal role in keeping the gas flowing safely, while preparing the network to transport green gases like hydrogen and biomethane.

The 40 roles will be based at operational hubs across the area. Applicants must be willing to work a variety of shift patterns. including weekend and evening work. Engineering operatives will be part of a 24/365 standby rota.

Sarah Hopkins, Wales & West Utilities people and engagement director, said: "While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across South West England.

"We understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it. Our new recruits will play a key role in keeping communities safe and warm today, while upgrading the gas network, so we can all play our part in a green future."
