Volunteer to make a world of difference at Slimbridge

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre is looking to recruit volunteers to help support its visitor experience team.

Whether you're looking to meet new people, learn new skills to boost your employability or just for fun, there's a volunteer role available at Slimbridge. Just a few hours spent volunteering can make a world of difference.

Thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Slimbridge has been developing nine new exciting and immersive wildlife experiences to help visitors get even closer to nature.

It is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of engagement roles from welcoming visitors to the centre and leading tours of Scott House to guiding visitors through the new exhibits.

Fran Penny, visitor experience manager, said: "We are recruiting volunteers to help bring our exhibits to life, engaging visitors in our conservation work and wonderful wetland species!"

Volunteers from all walks of life are welcome to apply. The flexible volunteer opportunities available range from regular commitments to just a few hours and can be adapted to suit individual circumstances.

Visitors are invited to attend a volunteer online open day on either 25th, 30th or 31st March, or 8th, 15th or 18th April. The online sessions will provide more information on Slimbridge Wetland Centre, the volunteering opportunities on offer, and how volunteering at Slimbridge can benefit individuals. Members of the volunteering team will be online to talk about their experiences. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and sessions will last around an hour.

To find out more about the roles and to sign up for an online open day, visit wwt.org.uk/getinvolved

In line with the latest government coronavirus lockdown restrictions, Slimbridge Wetland Centre is currently closed. It plans to reopen on Monday 12th April, subject to the latest government guidance.
