University’s National Apprenticeship Week event

The University of Gloucestershire is holding an event for businesses during National Apprenticeship Week this week.

And it's not too late to book a place!

The university's National Apprenticeship Week Exhibition will take place on Wednesday (February 8) between 10am and 2.30pm, as part of National Apprenticeship Week (February 6 to 12), at the Gloucestershire Business School on the Oxstalls Campus in Gloucester.

The event will showcase the benefits of higher and degree apprenticeships to all businesses, highlight how employers can set up apprenticeships to meet their business needs and provide information about how the Apprenticeship Levy is enabling businesses to offer apprenticeships.

The chief executive of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFATE), Jennifer Coupland, will be the keynote speaker at the exhibition.

Jennifer Coupland, whose previous roles include director of professional and technical education at the Department for Education, will highlight how hiring an apprentice is a productive and effective way for employers to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.

Dr Polly Pick, director of business engagement and partnership within the Business School, said: "We're absolutely thrilled that Jennifer Coupland has agreed to be keynote speaker at our National Apprenticeship Week Exhibition.

"As a provider of degree apprenticeships ourselves, we're delighted to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week and highlighting the benefits to employers within the region.

"The event will be a great opportunity for employers to network with apprenticeship providers from across the South West, as well as employers. There will also be a full programme of presentations and discussions with leading industry professionals, academics, employers, and learners."

Tickets for the exhibition are free but must be booked in advance. Refreshments will be available on arrival and a buffet lunch will be served.
