University of Gloucestershire graduates were among the winners and nominees at the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Student Awards 2023.

Film production graduates from the university won the Best Factual Film Award at the annual awards by the RTS - an educational charity promoting the art and science of television and celebrating the wealth of talent, creativity and innovation of students in the region.

The winning team, director Krissy Finn, producer Erin West, cinematographer Louise Devereux, sound Tom Purves, editor Pimmada Sukawattanakul and production designer Theo Ritter, made their film Let's Talk Clit in their third year of the course.

They also picked up RTS Craft awards, which reward exceptional promise, for storytelling, production design and editing, at the ceremony held at the Watershed cinema in Bristol.

They will now go on to compete at the RTS National Student Awards in June.

University of Gloucestershire graduates also featured strongly in the nominations. Nominated for the Best Film Award were Matt Luxton, Jack Bartlett, Liam Collet, Joe Hollin and Nick Corrigan (for My Body), and Laura Makai, Filip Bos, Ethan Thomas, Elliot Smith and Nathan Jackson (The Journey You'll Take).

The following were nominated for the Drama Award: Joe Davies, Adam Barrow, Chloe Iturbe, En Yi Lee, Imogen Perry, Lewis Townley (Devil's Cove); Georgie Kerssenbrock, Sophie Hewitt, Billy Evans, Zara Weltman, Nat Beardsley, Joseph Hulchan (Neonate); Brychan Elis Probert, Josh Jenkins, Jack Bartlett, Jude Barr, Imogen Perry, Imogen Maguire (See Me).

Eesha Elahi, Tommy Caroll, Daniel Crocket, Rose Abbott, Cathy Rainey and Jasmine Marsh were nominated for the Comedy and Entertainment Award for Chupan Chupai.

Winners of RTS Craft Awards were Chloe Iturbe (Production Design), Nat Beardsley (Production Design), Billy Evans (Camera work), Joseph Hulchan (Editing), Imogen Maguire (Production Design) and Matt Luxton (Storytelling).

Films made on the university's BA (Hons) film production course have a strong track record at the RTS National Student Awards, with Delicious Love winning Best Comedy in 2019, Dead Canary shortlisted for Best Drama in 2020, Paper Round Boy winning Best Drama in 2021, and Signed Marlo shortlisted for Best Drama in 2022.

Mike Parker, senior lecturer in film production within the university's School of Creative Industries, said: "Many congratulations to our graduates who won awards and were nominated across various categories at the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Students Awards 2023 - they should all feel immensely proud.
