The Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI) based at University of Gloucestershire is co-hosting a special community event in Stroud, at which guests will be able to find out more about its wide range of work and expertise.

The CCRI has jointly organised a screening of the award-winning docu-film River, narrated by Academy Award-nominated actor Willem Defoe, which draws on state-of-the art cinematography to take the audience on an extraordinary journey spanning six continents.

The screening takes place at Stroud Brewery on June 30 from 6.45pm. Tickets are £5 with proceeds going to charity.

Following the screening, the audience will be able to participate in a discussion with the CCRI's Chris Short (associate professor in environmental governance), Anna Tarbet from the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and Chris Uttley, the Stroud Valleys natural flood management officer, about their work and research.

Dr Charlotte Chivers from the CCRI said: "We're delighted to be hosting this special screening of River, which has received some fantastic reviews, with Stroud Brewery.

"We're very much looking forward to meeting members of the local community, finding out about their areas of environmental interests and concerns, and sharing our own research."
