The Forum creates jobs and apprenticeships

Construction of The Forum in Gloucester city centre hasn't just created new office space, a multi-storey car park and a hotel.

Part of the planning agreement for the £107m regeneration scheme, a partnership between Gloucester City Council and Reef, was to create employment opportunities for local people.
As the project nears completion, information on the number of opportunities created over the last four years has been released.
Working with Gloucestershire College and University of Gloucestershire, 98 weeks of structured work experience placements were delivered.
Working with DWP, Prospect Training Services and others, 53 local jobs were created.
Lead contractor, Kier, through the Kier degree apprenticeship scheme and graduate programmes, pledged to achieve 600 apprenticeship weeks during the build, but actually achieved nearly double that - at 1,194 weeks.
Throughout the project, new and existing employees were offered relevant training courses to support their development.
