Stroud apprenticeship open evenings

Stroud District Council is holding two apprenticeship open evenings this month.

The evenings, on June 7 and June 21, are a chance to find out more about the apprenticeship opportunities available at the council.

Both sessions will be held at the council's headquarters at Ebley Mill in Stroud from 4pm until 7pm.

Apprenticeship opportunities, offering work experience, a recognised qualification and a salary, include:

• ICT services apprentice

• Business administration apprentice - Housing Contracts

• Business administration apprentice - Planning

• Marketing apprentice - Museum in the Park

• Customer services apprentice (Ebley Mill)

• Customer services apprentice (Littlecombe)

• Property maintenance apprentice

Lucy Powell, head of HR at Stroud District Council, said: "The traditional route of sixth form or university doesn't suit everyone, and an apprenticeship can be an excellent alternative to many people.

"At our open evenings, you will have the chance to speak to members of the teams the vacancies are in, some of our current apprentices and tutors from SGS College and Cirencester College.

"We treat our apprentices as full members of the teams they work in and work hard to make sure they are fully supported."

A number of SDC employees started their careers as apprentices, including Emily Robbins, who has completed Level 2 and Level 3 business administration apprenticeships, and an HNC in construction and the built environment and is now a trainee project manager in property services.

Emily Robbins said: "The support of many different colleagues has allowed me to grow and develop both personally and professionally throughout my time here. I'd recommend an apprenticeship to anyone!"
