Outstanding success at Student TV Awards for university students

University of Gloucestershire students had great success at The Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England 2021 Student Television Awards last night (24th February).

Mike Parker, course leader Film Production said: "During 2020/2021, our students had to adapt to the most challenging circumstances. So, it was particularly rewarding to see multiple nominations for University of Gloucestershire Film Production students. Two of our nominated films were made during lockdown!"

The Scripted category was won by 'Paper Round Boy' - a film by students George Stickley (director), Anastasija Pcelinceva (producer), Ted Box (DOP), Millie Bennet (sound) and Brandon Thompson (editor).

The team said: "Paper Round Boy lets us into the vibrant and imaginative world of a little boy, who learns that even the best superheroes need a friend. Our aim was to tell a heart-warming story through the eyes of a young lad who aspires to be like his dad, by capturing childhood nostalgia and the beauty of untethered imagination in every aspect of the film."

University of Gloucestershire students also won three of the five available Craft Awards. Alex Camper won a Cinematography Award for 'Beautiful Beach Hut', Sam Oxton won a Cinematography Award for 'The Last Bank Robbery of Clive and Maude' and Owen Jenkins won an Editing Award for 'There Was a Green Light'.
