Innovative agri-tech jobs for the future at Hartpury

Hartpury University and College have a number of jobs for the future available to applicants right now.

Hartpury's new Digital Innovation in Agri-Tech Project will create innovation and demonstration workspace for high-growth SMEs in the growth phase already operating within the agri-tech sector, to explore, test, trial, research and develop products or enhance existing ones.

The project is one of the most exciting agri-tech projects in the country and it is looking to recruit to four key roles.

Now the project needs an agri-tech digital advisor to help take it forward. The digital advisor will support the Digital Innovation team to ensure relevant and appropriate tech is available to support SMEs' development of new products and services.

The candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification (PHD, Masters or equivalent level) in engineering or technology, or the equivalent high-level professional experience relevant to agriculture. They will also have relevant knowledge/ understanding of the agricultural industry, along with technical experience applicable to the agri sector industry.

The role is for 30 hours per week, with a pro rata salary of £40,000.

The project is also looking for a part-time (18.25 hours per week) technology engineer and system specialist.

This role will be the point of reference for all technical queries and service requests from the Digital Innovation in Agri-Tech Project team, in relation to specialist equipment within the project's product development and testing facilities.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice on equipment, research opportunities and help to deliver facilities with the latest relevant technology. They will also develop industry links and contacts, promoting the opportunity to engage with this project.

The pro-rata salary for this role is £25,000.

The project is also seeking a full-time project administrator, with a salary of £20,000.

The candidate should have previous experience of working within an administrative and/ or customer service role. They will need good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.

The final role Hartpury is currently recruiting for the project is a part-time (18.25 hours per week) control and claims finance officer, with a pro rata salary of £28,000.

The finance officer is required to effectively manage the financial elements of the quarterly claims process of the Digital Innovation in Agri-Tech Project, in accordance with ERDF requirements and timescales, ensuring that up-to-date records and supporting evidence is retained at all times for audit purposes.

They will have extensive experience within a finance role and ideally a degree or equivalent qualification in the subject area. Experience of successfully managing and delivering an ERDF or similar European project would be advantageous for this role.

Hartpury's Digital Innovation Farm forms part of an exciting 10-year vision at Hartpury, which is already underway with the construction of a £2 million Agri-Tech Centre. Hartpury's Digital Innovation Farm will include the National Centre for Agricultural Data Management and Interpretation, to assist the industry in its advancement of agricultural technology, data and security.

Officially opened earlier this year by NFU President Minette Batters, the Agri-Tech Centre provides farmers, students and organisations with access to the latest commercial technology. This is an ESIF funded project.
