Hartpury postgraduate programme earns CIMSPA accreditation

Hartpury University's MSc sports management has been accredited by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

The postgraduate programme is now a CIMSPA recognised management qualification - an entry requirement for CIMSPA senior manager membership. Senior manager membership is the highest level of affiliation offered by CIMSPA.

CIMSPA membership provides individuals working in the sport and physical activity sector with professional recognition for their chosen occupation. It provides assurance to employers, clients, colleagues and the public that an individual holds the appropriate qualification and continuing professional development (CPD) to be competent in their role.

The new master's degree was introduced earlier this year and aims to equip graduates with the expertise to meet modern standards in the global sports management industry. A broad spectrum of sports management specific course modules includes strategic leadership, real world issues, and digital media and marketing.

Students enrolled on the MSc sports management programme are already benefiting from access to academic experts and industry figures within the new Hartpury Sport Business Hub - a network of sports businesses working with postgraduate sports students to deliver real-world projects such as the development of a new club house at Bream RFC.

Dr Kevin Harris, principal lecturer in sport and management, said: "We are delighted that this exciting degree has received such a prestigious accreditation from CIMSPA.

"Accreditation at the senior manager level is evidence that this course meets the needs of an ever-changing industry, as new technologies, organisational cultures and social trends influence best practice in sports management.

"Endorsements such as this one not only adds to overall graduate employability, but also confirms that each programme is on the right track to produce well-rounded, industry-ready individuals."
