Gloucestershire College invites local trade companies to discuss skills needs

Gloucestershire College will host a free business breakfast for local construction and building services companies at its Cinderford campus.

The event on June 24 will focus on the best way the industry can develop and retain a motivated, highly skilled workforce in construction and building services.

Industry speakers from two established companies, including Elijah Willow Construction, will share their thoughts about what needs to be done to stimulate and drive much needed change in the construction sector; and what employers can do to attract and retain talent.

Staff from GC Employer Training & Apprenticeships team will share their perspective on business and education joining forces to train the upcoming talent in the industry, and how employers can tap into that talent pool.

Julie Tegg, director of employer training and apprenticeships, said: "We look forward to welcoming local trade companies and businesses to our business breakfast.

"It's an excellent opportunity to network, hear from industry experts and learn about apprenticeship programmes and best practices. We also welcome the opportunity to hear about the skills you need and how we can support you.

"As an apprenticeship training provider, we know how important it is for business and education to work closely together to provide the right talent and skills for industry."

"Gloucestershire College has been the cornerstone of construction and trade training in the county for the last 30 years, having worked with hundreds of businesses, including Bloor Homes, Elijah Willow Construction, EG Carter, Mike Etheridge and many others. We have no doubt that while our partnerships with local companies continue, our apprentices will continue to be the future of the construction industry in the county and beyond."

The business breakfast is free to attend and includes a sit-down breakfast cooked by GC's professional cookery students.
