Gloucestershire College apprenticeship case study
By Sarah Wood | 23rd June 2022
Tyler is a business administrator apprentice at Hub8 in Cheltenham.
Gloucestershire College's Level 3 business administration is a stepping stone into the world of business. The programme equips learners with the essential knowledge of working in an office, boosts confidence and develops important hard and soft skills for a successful career in business.
Tyler said: "I chose to do an apprenticeship because university was not something I was enthusiastic to do. I always liked the idea of an apprenticeship, as it meant I could learn on the job, whist of course earning which is an added benefit. Additionally, this meant that I could be gaining industry skills and experience."
Tyler's main day-to-day role is based around the delivery of the white-label management software used at Hub8.
He said: "I work closely with our head of operations and innovations, to help the business improve in those areas and make the customer experience that bit greater. I also assist our finance manager with queries around invoices, but I am not limited to what I can do.
"The best thing about my apprenticeship is working closely with our members every day. Further to this, I enjoy my day-to-day role as there is often something new and engaging to do and learn on the job."
He said that his line manager in the workplace and assessor at Gloucestershire College have both supported him to settle in at work and allowed him to take on responsibilities and develop his career.
After his apprenticeship, Tyler would like to continue to develop.
He said: "I would like to stay with the company and develop within my role even further. If this is not to be the case, I would like to go into project management of some kind."
