Exam success for Cheltenham student with health condition

19-year-old Ethan Noble from Brockworth has achieved an exceptional set of A Level results, while battling with a long-term health condition.

Ethan, a student at Bournside's Sixth Form in Cheltenham, is currently in hospital receiving a course of treatment for Crohn's disease.

He was sent his results of an A* in media and A grades in music and business by email, as he was unable to attend school to pick up his grades.

Ethan said: "I did my exams during a Crohn's flare-up and I had to walk out at one point as I thought I was going to throw-up. In the first year of my A Levels, my attendance was at 50 per cent due to my condition, so I had to retake a year. I was often on morphine while at school and have been in and out of hospital."

Ethan transferred into Bournside's Sixth Form from Henley Bank in Brockworth. He is now looking forward to studying music at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Birmingham.

Ethan said: "The pastoral team at Bournside have been very supportive. Mr Clift my music teacher also stands out, as he knew how much I struggled with music theory, and he stuck with me."

Overall at Bournside, the average A Level grade was a B, with 17 per cent of students getting three or more A levels at grade A or A* and 45 per cent gaining three or more A Levels at grade B or above.
