Digital skills bootcamp: Last few places available now!

There are just a few places left on Gloucestershire College's new skills bootcamp in digital.

Skills bootcamps from Gloucestershire College are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, offering intensive training in the cyber and digital skills the county needs, with a fast track, guaranteed interview with a local employer.

The courses are free to anyone aged 19 and over who is in work, self-employed, unemployed or returning to work after a break.

Skills bootcamps are delivered online via OpenClassrooms and include weekly mentorship sessions with an industry expert and career coaching webinars.

There are no tests or exams; the courses are project-driven and experiential to ensure participants are work-ready.

Courses are available in web development and IT support.

Web developers are fundamental in any modern business, and bring to life the mock-ups created by designers - translating graphics into web languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Through the web developer course, a learner could become a junior web developer or web designer who can hit the ground running.

They will learn:

• Static web design with HTML5 and CSS to build a first web page following a mock-up

• CSS animations with SASS to ensure design consistency, develop a navigation structure and implement design effects

• Website optimisation with SEO and accessibility to improve the size and speed of a website, analyse search engine performance and implement current best practice

IT support technicians wear many hats, and are a key link between users and IT departments, involved in all aspects of IT infrastructure from deployment and maintenance to security and upgrading.

Through the IT support technician course, a learner could become an IT support technician; support, helpdesk or infrastructure technician; or computer support specialist.

They will learn:

• Workstation installation to prepare, install and maintain workstations to help users work more effectively

• Secure workstations in an IT inventory and set up a backup

• Provide user support conducting incident analysis and following established procedures.
