Cyber Skills Bootcamps available to all

Whether you are employed, self-employed or unemployed, you can join a cyber Skills Bootcamp with Gloucestershire College.

The flexible courses of up to 16 weeks offer intensive training in the cyber and digital skills the county needs, with a fast track, guaranteed interview with a local employer.

Courses are available for free for anyone aged 19 and over.

The Skills Bootcamps are delivered online and include weekly mentorship sessions with an industry expert. There are no tests or exams; the courses are project-driven and experiential to ensure participants are work-ready.

Web developer and IT support technician courses are available.

Through the web developer course, a participant could become a junior web developer or web designer who can hit the ground running.

They will gain a Level 3 qualification (A Level equivalent) and may learn how to:

• Implement a website navigation structure

• Create simple animations using CSS

• Implement SEO best practices

• Ensure web pages are compliant with accessibility standards

• Make websites responsive and compatible

• Change elements of a website dynamically using JavaScript

• Develop and interact with web services with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB

• Process and store user data securely

• Build user interfaces and single-page applications

IT support technicians are a key link between users and IT departments; involved in all aspects of IT infrastructure, from deployment and maintenance to security and upgrading.

Through the course, a participant could become an IT support technician, support, helpdesk or infrastructure technician or computer support specialist.

They will gain a Level 3 qualification (A Level equivalent) and could learn how to:

• Set up a computer to meet a user's needs

• Install hardware and software

• Back up a user's computer

• Provide IT assistance following an established procedure

• Provide support to users on IT tools and security

• Monitor the availability of a server

• Manage interactions with IT service providers

• Manage IT inventory
