Barnwood careers event
By Sarah Wood | 23rd May 2022
Barnwood is holding a careers event at Kingsholm Stadium on Thursday (May 26).
The event is for anyone who has an interest in what the Gloucestershire-based construction and shopfitting firm does, and to talk to its employees about the opportunities available.
Barnwood has always had great success with building and retaining talent via the traineeship and apprenticeship route. The firm knows that bringing new talent into the industry is key to its future success. There is a construction skills shortage which will only increase in the future if it doesn't invest in the next generation.
Barnwood is proud to be an inclusive employer and welcomes the attendance at the event of women and girls who are keen to discuss career opportunities. Women are currently underrepresented in the industry and it would like to help change that.
Chancerygate has recently worked with Barnwood on trade parks in Cheltenham and Bishops Cleeve.
Matthew Storr of Chancerygate said: "Working with Barnwood over the last few years on the Furlong and Festival Trade Parks has been a pleasure. An important part of this is due to the Barnwood company culture, which is hardworking, collaborative, problem-solving and, importantly, is not claims conscious.
"The fact that Barnwood is now an employee owned trust is a big positive as a client, as it means we know that everyone has a vested interest in the long-term profitability of the company, as opposed to short terms gains in the hands of a few people. This will also help maintain the great company culture and ensure they stay the tight-knit and fun bunch of people they are right now!"
Every year, Barnwood takes on three apprentices in its joinery workshop. The recruitment process for these roles is currently underway, with a start date of August.
Barnwood is also looking to recruit trainee site managers, contracts managers and estimators, as well as several trades.
