Menswear store makes Cheltenham return

A men's fashion retailer is making a return to Cheltenham with a new look and a slightly different name.

Moss, in the former Clinton Cards store on the High Street, opens its doors for the first time today.

Previously known as Moss Bros, the retailer closed a number of stores, including those in Cheltenham and Gloucester, after the pandemic caused a big drop in demand for formalwear.

Back in May, it announced it was looking to open 10 new stores this year, after a big rise in sales and profits.

The brand has made a comeback with a focus on slightly edgier formwalwear, alongside knitwear, Tshirts and even joggers. It also offers custom-made tuxedos and wedding suits.

Historically, Moss Bros was best known for its hire service, particularly for weddings, which it still offers, alongside its smart and casualwear.

The Moss shop unit was sold at auction for £772k last week. The shop next door, the former H Samuel, sold for £830k and is currently being fitted out by Cornish Bakery.
