Historic Cotswold coaching inn is sold

Brakspear has announced that it has just completed the purchase of the Redesdale Arms Hotel in the centre of Moreton-in-Marsh.

The Redesdale Arms is Brakspear's latest acquisition to its Honeycomb Houses managed division, which offers a collection of individually styled pubs with rooms to eat, drink, sleep and celebrate.

Honeycomb Houses already runs 10 managed pubs, many with rooms, including some of the Cotswolds most popular pubs such as England's Oldest Inn, The Porch House, and the recently refurbished Sheep on Sheep Street, both in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Since 2012, Honeycomb Houses has acquired several heritage properties in the Cotswolds region, all hand-picked for their idyllic town and village locations and surrounded by quintessential English countryside. Last year, The Egypt Mill in Nailsworth reopened its doors following a significant investment in its bedrooms.

Passionate about pubs and creating a 'home from home' atmosphere, Oxfordshire-based Brakspear makes considerable investments in its Honeycomb Houses portfolio. These include sympathetic renovations to create relaxing spaces both inside and out in its signature whimsical, contemporary style, together with an irresistible offering of quality food and drink and topnotch service, whilst providing opportunities for local employment.

The Honeycomb Houses estate represents some of Brakspear's finest venues out of the 120 pubs it owns, and The Redesdale Arms is no exception. Set back from Moreton's High Street, its handsome, 17th century Georgian facade of Cotswold stone gives way to traditional charm including original oak beams, open fires and panelled walls.

Its 35 contemporary-style en-suite guest rooms are spread across the main building and within a converted stable block and courtyard.

Tom Davies, Brakspear CEO, said: "We're really excited to be adding the Redesdale Arms Hotel to our Honeycomb Houses estate. This wonderful, atmospheric inn is the perfect addition to our portfolio and sits well alongside our other successful managed Cotswold pubs with rooms.

"Our vision for the Redesdale Arms is to continue to offer a wonderful place to relax, stay, drink and dine with an initial investment in staff training and new menus with further investment down the line."

Following the takeover this week, the Redesdale Arms will be closed until Monday, April 14, to allow its existing team to undergo training alongside learning about and trialing new menus of seasonal fare devised by Honeycomb's in-house head of food, Ken Umasanthiram.

Ken will be extending the Honeycomb Houses 'Chef Academy' to the Redesdale. Designed to develop talent and potential across the estate, the Chef Academy offers in-house kitchen staff a nine-month training programme that includes masterclasses and workshops to challenge and develop their skills from pizza-making, butchery, fishmongery and pastry, as well as supplier visits and menu development to ultimately produce confident chefs ready to run their own kitchens.
