Bensons buys mattress retailer out of administration

Bensons for Beds has bought a mattress retailer's brand, website and intellectual property out of administration.

This follows the news yesterday (October 17) that 'sleep wellness' brand, Eve Sleep, had abandoned its attempts to find a buyer.

Bensons for Beds, which has a store in Gloucester, confirmed it will operate Eve Sleep as a stand-alone brand and will relaunch its website next month, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Eve's sales had fallen by 18 per cent compared to last year, as shoppers tightened their belts and cut spending on big-ticket items.

But Bensons for Beds saw potential in the brand, which it said had "significant customer recognition", particularly with younger shoppers.

Bensons has recently secured additional investment from its owner Alteri to drive its growth strategy and transformation plans.

The acquisition of Eve comes just two years after Bensons itself underwent a pre-pack administration.
