1# Relive 'Wartime in the Cotswolds' at GWSR 

While this year marks the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway's (GWSR) 'Wartime in the Cotswolds' this weekend will recall the triumphs and tragedies of the Second World War and celebrate the camaraderie that held Britain together.

The GWSR's 'Wartime in the Cotswolds' is reckoned to be one of the UK's best railway-based 1940s events and it has grown year on year - every year smashing records for the number of visitors and re-enactors taking part.

Highlights include visits from King George VI, Winston Churchill and Field Marshall Montgomery with WW2 hardware including a replica Spitfire aircraft and a tank.

There's a packed programme of events and attractions at Cheltenham Racecourse, Gotherington, Winchcombe, Toddington and Broadway stations with plenty of action on the frequent train's services too.

2# Remembrance those in Sri Lanka at Gloucester Cathedral 

Exactly one week on from the devastating terror attacks which targeted churches and high-end hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Day, Gloucester Cathedral will hold a short act of remembrance and observe a time of silence.

The Right Rev'd Rachel Treweek, Bishop of Gloucester and the Very Rev'd Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester, will be present at the gathering in Cathedral Green on Sunday 28 April at 10.00am.

Dean Stephen said; 'We invite people of all faiths and none to gather together, to remember those who were killed and injured when they were simply in prayer. Later at 10.15am, the Cathedral Sunday Service will take place as usual'.

4# Get hands-on at Taurus Crafts

5# Save money by travelling by Stagecoach Bus 

Planning on popping into town with your friends or planning a day out somewhere in Gloucester with the family? Hopping on a Stagecoach Bus might be the cheapest and easiest option.

Since the new year, Stagecoach West have been offering significant discounts for group Dayrider tickets, as well as tickets for passengers under 19 years of age.

Any four passengers of any age who travel together, can save a huge £7.50 when they purchase a group day ticket via the app. That works out as just £1.88 per person - much cheaper than a taxi to go shopping in the Quays or to get into town for a night out.
