Gloucester teenager researched Norwegian mass killer's preparations and planning

A Gloucester teenager accused of attempting to get a deadly handgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life did internet searches about mass murderer's meticulous planning of the massacre he eventually carried out, a jury heard today.

The documents researched by Kyle Davies of Gloucester detailed the years of planning by Anders Behring Breivik before he shot dead 69 teenagers at a beach resort in Norway in 2011.

Davies, 19, from the Wotton area of Gloucester, has admitted trying to possess a Glock pistol and five rounds of 'maximum damage' 9mm ammunition on June 20, 2018 but he denies having any intent to endanger life.

On the 5th day of his trial at Gloucester Crown Court today prosecuting barrister Anna Vigars questioned police officer Jennifer Spencer, who had been investigating the case.

"Mr Davies opened an account with Nationwide Building Society," said the officer.

"A fortnight later the balance stood at £10,276 - money which his father had given him for his university education later that year.

"A few days later he applied for a passport and the following month he was researching driving licence applications on his computer."

The officer then referred to a document entitled The Breivik Timeline, also found on Mr Davies' lap-top, which detailed the Norwegian mass killer's preparations and planning for what he referred to as his "mission."

The document referred to ways to raise the necessary funds for purchasing weapons such as the Glock pistol, how to make explosives and body armour and what vehicles to buy.

The trial has now adjurned for the weekend and will resume on Monday.
