Chairman of Cheltenham’s biggest private employer has new role

The chairman of one of the county's biggest private employers is taking on a new role at the boss of a firm involved in deep space and sea exploration.

Jamie Pike, chairman of Spirax Sarco, which employs more than 1,000 in the county has been appointed non‐executive director of Cobham plc.

The firm describes itself as a "leading global technology and services innovator, respected for providing solutions to the most challenging problems, from deep space to the depths of the ocean".

Mr Pike joined the board of Spirax Sarco in 2014. His new role begins at the start of May.

"In addition, it is intended that Jamie becomes chairman of Cobham after a short handover period, and taking account of the proposed completion of the takeover of RPC Group plc, where he is currently chairman," said a statement from Spirax Sarco, which is an expert in steam engineering with a global footprint.
