Top five things to do in Gloucestershire this weekend

Lost as to what to do this weekend? Here is our top pick.

1# Enjoy the sounds of gypsy jazz, swing & French café music at Tetbury Goods Shed

Back by popular demand - Le Swing bring to Tetbury Goods Shed their unique blend of female jazz vocal, acoustic and electric guitars, double bass and occasional trumpet.

They'll be performing an evening of French chanson and American songbook classics, delivered in their own gypsy jazz-inspired style.

Featuring the voice of Helen Marshall, backed by Dave Roach and Phil Harris (guitars), and Martin Harvey (bass), the band members are seasoned musicians, each with their own rich and varied tale of performing.

They each have their own eclectic mix of inspirations and influences, each bringing their own musical personality to the band's sound.

Early bird tickets are available for the performance at £10.50 while tickets on the door on the night will cost £12.50.

Over 1,000 classic vehicles will be on display, from the dawn of the motoring era, to pre-war, post-war, American classics, custom cars, hot rods to supercars, motorbikes and those of historic and engineering significance to mass-produced retro run-abouts.

It's not just cars either ... over 200 classic motorcycles will be displayed, with all the major marques represented including Honda, Yamaha, Harley Davidson, Moto Guzzi, AGS, Triumph and Royal Enfield to local Gloucestershire-based manufacturer Cotton.

The Classic Vehcile Festival, now in its 8th year is the Rotary Club's biggest charity annual fundraiser which actively raises thousands of pounds for both national and regional charities. Over £100,000 has been donated since its inception.

Two of the charity beneficiaries this year will be the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

The Festival features live vintage entertainment courtesy of the Haywood Sisters, Lindy Hop dance demonstrations, plus 110 quality trade stands, autojumble and a wide selection of onsite catering.

3# Watch a hit musical at Rendcomb College

The Barn Academy, based at The Barn Theatre in Cirencester will bring their first amateur production to the stage at The Griffin Theatre in Rendcomb.

This is the world-famous story of the power struggle between Jean Valjean and the Police Inspector Javert over a period of 20 years. Jean Valjean is released on parole after 19 years on the chain gang and finds that the yellow ticket-of-leave he must, by law, display condemns him to be an outcast, forcing him to seek refuge with the Bishop of Digne. Caught stealing silver, Valjean is spared from further imprisonment by the Bishop, who lies for him and sends him on his way. Javert is determined to catch the man who has violated his parole, so as Valjean finds new success under a new name he continually comes close to the hands of Javert, whilst another revolution constantly looms over Paris.

Packed with great songs, the Les Misérables music includes 'At the End of the Day', 'I Dreamed a Dream', 'One Day More, On My Own', 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' and 'Bring Him Home'.
