Two acclaimed shows transfer to Gloucester

Where: Kings Theatre, Kings Barton Street, Gloucester

When: Wednesday, January 10, to Saturday, January 13

The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham is reaching out to Gloucester next week as two sell-out Studio shows staged before Christmas will be performed at the Kings Theatre.

Hammerpuzzle Theatre's The Tales of Hans Christian Andersen (perfect for pre-school children and families) and A Gloucestershire Midwinter (a musical revue of all things wintry past and present in the county) got rave reviews and if you missed them in Cheltenham, now's your chance!

The Tales of Hans Christian Andersen (pictured below) is full to the brim with spoken word, song, puppetry and more; families and little storytellers will experience tales such as Thumbelina, The Princess and the Pea and The Ugly Duckling.

Supported throughout by live music, song and opportunities for children to join in with the storytelling, this is a perfect festive celebration for younger audiences!

In A Gloucestershire Midwinter we delve into the winter memories of a group of travellers heading home for Christmas, from Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening to The Tale of Oxbode Lane, from Holst's Bleak Mid Winter to a mummers play from South Cerney.

Join the ensemble cast as they tell stories, celebrate and reflect on the festive season with a collection of live literature, poetry, music and song, all from the local area of Cheltenham and Gloucestershire.

These productions are supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

The first day of shows (Wednesday, January 10) are on a 'Pay What You Can' basis with proceeds going to The Butterfly Garden charity. Tickets need to be booked (free) but donations are requested on the day.

To book, call the box office on 01242 572573 or online at www.everymantheatre.org.uk
