Teddy the Shetland to star at Hartpury Summer Fair

Where: Hartpury College, Hartpury

When: Saturday, August 10

International social media sensation Teddy the Shetland is among the highlights of this year's Hartpury Summer Fair on Saturday, August 10.

The little palomino pony has attracted more than 100,000 followers on Instagram thanks to a heart-warming and often amusing social media feed.

Before last Christmas, Teddy re-enacted scenes from iconic festive films, including Elf, Home Alone and Love Actually, for an advertising campaign for Sandown Racecourse.

More recently, he appeared at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials and the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show.

A firm favourite at major UK equestrian events, Teddy is certain to prove a big attraction at the Summer Fair, which takes place on the Saturday of the NAF Five Star International Horse Trials (August 7-11).

The Hartpury Summer Fair offers something to suit the whole family, with activities ranging from inflatable games to a family dog show.

Visitors can browse stalls from local businesses, meet animals and enjoy Hartpury's outdoor arena programme.

The NAF Five Star International Horse Trials, which take place just weeks before the European Championships and one year before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, are a superb opportunity to get close to leading international event riders.

The competitive action gets under way on Wednesday, August 7, with the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse qualifiers taking place ahead of the CCI2*-L, CCI3*-L, and CCI4*-S competitions from Thursday, August 8.

The cross-country courses, designed by Eric Winter, are sure to provide plenty of thrills and spills as riders partake in equestrian's ultimate triathlon.

Entry to the NAF International Hartpury Horse Trials is free on Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 August.

Entry to the event costs £10 per person on Saturday, August 10, and £5 per person on Sunday, August 11. Under 16s go free all week.
