Sunday Folk at Tetbury Goods Shed
By David Wood | 3rd February 2025
Join singer songwriter Lauren South and guitarist David Mitchell on February 9 for an afternoon of outstanding and beautiful music for the latest Sunday Folk concert.
Lauren is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for her original compositions and traditional melodies.

With the accompaniment of tenor guitar, fiddle, and shruti box, her songs exude heartfelt emotion and vivid imagery, drawing inspiration from her passion for the nocturnal heavens, the natural world, and her journey through motherhood.
Lauren's debut solo album, Tiny Boat, was released in November 2023 to critical acclaim. Beyond her solo endeavours, Lauren is an enthusiastic collaborator and constitutes half of the dynamic duo, Donnelly & South, alongside Keith Donnelly.
David Mitchell describes his guitar playing as "Folk-Classical fingerstyle", combining these genres to create a beautiful and unique take on some well known pieces and traditional folk tunes as well as performing his own original compositions.
David trained as a luthier and uses a classical guitar that he crafted himself. He also plays other stringed instruments as well as whistles and recorders.
Alongside performing solo, David enjoys playing with other bands and musicians including the "Monkey See Monkey Do Ceilidh Band". He was also one half of the duo "Mitchell and Vincent".
David's debut solo album, Contours, released last October 2024, has been described as "tremendous" by Alan Ritson of Fine Folk, "A bit of a cracker!" by Mike Norris of Classic Folk (the EFDSS radio show) and "excellent" by Robert Ford of The Folk & Roots Show (Abbey FM).
Advance tickets cost £10 for adults and £2 for under-16s (plus booking fees) from the Tetbury Goods Shed website. On the door they will be £12 and £3.
Doors open at 2.30pm and the concert starts at 3pm.
