Summer sounds at the Everyman Theatre

Where: Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham

When: Monday, June 25, to Saturday, June 30

The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham is staging sizzling nights of top class music next week.

The musical extravaganza kicks off with The Johnny Cash Roadshow on Monday, June 25. Prepare for a musical and emotional rollercoaster celebrating the career of music legend Johnny Cash.

Singer/songwriter Clive John recreates with astounding accuracy what it was like to be at a real Cash show. He takes the audience from the 1950s right up to 2002 and all the stops in between. All the greatest hits are included, along with songs from the latest five decades of the man in black's career. All this accompanied by emotive and evocative screen images.

The following night the Everyman introduces Stewart D'Arrietta and his band who bring Leonard Cohen's raw and distinctive style to life in My Leonard Cohen. This stirring celebration offers arresting and imaginative interpretations of the great singer-songwriter's most powerful works.

Poetic anecdotes, punctuated with D'Arrietta's trademark laconic humour, offer a narrative frame by which the audience can contemplate the life of one of the world's most enigmatic songwriters.

The beat changes on Wednesday, June 27, with Material Girl: A Tribute To Madonna. Incredible vocals, amazing dancers, video footage and narration take the audience on a journey through the scandals, the controversy and, of course, the music of the Queen of Pop.

Material Girl features all of the hits such as Like A Virgin, Papa Don't Preach, Vogue, Crazy for You, Into The Groove, Like A Prayer, Express Yourself and many more.

Another pop legend takes centre stage on Friday, June 29, in Totally Tina. Tina Turner is a phenomenon having won eight Grammies and sold over 200 million albums (not to mention more concert tickets than any other artist in a career lasting four decades)

The show brings the spectacle and energy of Tina's live concerts to her fans, courtesy of talented Justine Riddoch and a superb cast of vocalists, musicians and dancers.

The week ends on Saturday, June 30, with Dancing Queen - The Concert - an action-packed party show featuring the greatest hits from ABBA, Grease and the 70s. This is the ultimate nostalgia night that guarantees to get you dancing in the aisles!

The show features the ABBA classics Dancing Queen, Waterloo, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Knowing Me Knowing You and Mamma Mia, along with all your favourite 70s hits such as Summer Nights, Car Wash, You're The One That I Want, YMCA, Boogie Nights and Love is in the Air.
