Sub Rooms to close until end of April 'at least'

The Stroud Subscription Rooms has announced that it is closing until at least April 30 and is cancelling or postponing all events at The Sub Rooms.

"As a venue at the heart of a vibrant artistic community, we understand the impact of these uncertain times," a statement said. "Over the last few days we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and we would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during this fast-changing and difficult situation for us all.

"We care deeply about our community and, after lengthy discussions with our team, bands. performers and promoters - we have decided to close The Subscription Rooms until at least Thursday, April 30 and have cancelled or postponed all events at The Sub Rooms.

"We will continue to monitor the situation over that time, and will be closely following government, NHS and Public Health England advice, in order to ensure that we make decisions that are in the best interest for our audience, performers, and the team here in the building."

The Sub Rooms will be contacting all affected customers directly to give them an update about their individual bookings, although this may take some time.

"We are working hard to reschedule as many events as possible," the statement added. "The status of events from May onwards will be reviewed on a daily basis and we will update customers as early as we can about any decisions that we make on these events.

"Your support at this time is now more vital than ever and there are plenty of ways you can help. The impact of coronavirus on the arts and cultural scene in this country is unprecedented. If you value the arts and music we ask you to consider donating your ticket refund.

"The Subscription Rooms Trust is a charity and every penny we receive will support us to continue to provide top quality arts and entertainment while supporting the work of hundreds of musicians and performers each year.

"The arts enrich all of our lives, and we'll need your support more than ever over the coming months, so we can continue to support our artists, so please, if you can, consider donating the cost of your ticket if we have to refund rather than reschedule. Your gesture could make all the difference to the future of The Sub Rooms."
