Stunning kingfisher sculptures flock to fundraising event

The Kingfisher Trail, a truly unique collection of 22 individually designed sculptures, has swooped to a close in the Cotswolds.

The kingfishers are taking a well-earned break and a rest from public display before their auction appearance!

The nature inspired sculpture trail ran across the Cotswolds throughout the spring and summer and was the standout regional outdoor activity for 2021, with visitors enjoying kingfisher spotting in lots of unique settings and venues, from quiet rural retreats to bustling market towns.

All the giant kingfisher models have a personal story and are beautifully designed and decorated by an exceptionally talented group of artists.

No two sculptures are the same and each carry the signature style of their creator, ranging from street art to illustration.

The kingfishers are now being made ready for their grand reveal at the 2021 Kingfisher Auction, hosted by the local specialist team of fine art auctioneers at Chorley's and held at the magnificent Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham on Thursday, October 21.

Whether you are an art aficionado, an animal lover or have a passion for collecting, you will find all of the Kingfisher sculptures provide individual appeal. The collection is inspired by a range of themes from climate change to the conservation of the Cotswold countryside.

Prior to the live auction, everyone will be in with a chance to secure their favourite sculpture by utilising the 'Buy Now' function on the 'Kingfisher Trail 2021' app or via the website - www.kingfishertrail.org/auction

Plus, the extra special Golden Kingfisher named Sulis is destined to be a unique raffle prize for one of just 500 lucky ticket holders! To be in with a chance of winning, simply download the app and purchase a Golden Kingfisher raffle ticket. The winner will be announced at the auction.

Andy Parsons, from trail organisers Cotswolds National Landscape, said: "The Kingfisher Trail has been one of the most popular regional outdoor experiences this year and the culmination of the trail is the final flight of our stunning flock, to the live auction at Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.

"Auction guests will have an exclusive opportunity to bid for their favourite kingfisher sculpture and join us for a celebratory night."
