Sister Act live cinema tour comes to Cheltenham

Where: Cheltenham Town Hall

When: October 28, 2017

Sister Act Live Choir is bringing the classic film starring Whoopi Goldberg to life with an electrifying new tour on its way to Cheltenham.

The 1992 musical comedy Sister Act is the latest film to receive the live cinema treatment with the Sister Act Live Choir, presented by Amacoast Cinema.

Film fans have been clamouring for pop-ups and live cinema experiences in recent years, as audiences look for innovative ways to enjoy the films they love.

Now Sister Act fans can immerse themselves in a new cinematic, musical experience - 25 years after the film was first released.

Sister Act Live Choir boasts a choir made up of 35 gospel singers and a full band, as they accompany the on-screen nuns with live performances of songs from the film soundtrack.

Founder Dele Aro says: "We are delighted to be touring this powerful and uplifting live cinema experience.

"The show has had two successful, sold-out runs in London in Autumn 2016 and April 2017. We were delighted to see the shows connect such a large, diverse group of people together, to share a unique experience and create new memories around a much-loved film."

Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, played by Whoopi Goldberg, who after witnessing a murder at the hands of her boyfriend has to enter witness protection to avoid a similar fate.

She turns to the one place that she hopes he will never look - a convent. Disguised as a nun, Deloris woefully tries to adopt her new lifestyle and after several false starts, she finally finds her voice at the heart of the church choir.

Sister Act Live Choir features the Uplifted Voices choir which has featured on BBC Gospel Proms and provided backing choirs for the live shows on ITV's The Voice, Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor shows.

There will also be a special guest performance from Britain's Got Talent semi-finalists Gospel Singers Incognito.

The show will be at Cheltenham Town Hall on October 28 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale now and cost £22.
